Best note-taking apps for product managers
A PM writes to be read. The notes are half thinking and half publishing, so the app has to hold rough interview scribbles and a spec that goes to twelve people in the same place.
Top pick: Notion, at 8.9 out of 10 on this ranking. If your notes are really a small internal wiki, Notion is hard to beat. If you just want to write things down quickly, it asks for more setup than it gives back.
What we weighted
Documents other people work in
Real-time editing and comments, so feedback lands in the spec rather than in a thread about the spec.
Structure that reports
Databases and views, so a hundred feature notes can become one roadmap without a rewrite.
Customer evidence you can find
Call notes tagged and searchable, because the argument you need is in a call from March.
Every app keeps its site-wide score, but the order here is a separate fit reading built from those three needs, so it is not the same list you get on the home page.

Questions product managers ask
- Notion or Obsidian for product work?
- Notion, in almost every case. Product work is collaborative and structured, which is exactly where databases and comments earn their keep. Obsidian is the better private thinking tool and the worse team tool.
- Do I need a separate app for customer interviews?
- Not if your note app transcribes. Keeping interviews in the same workspace as the specs means the quote and the decision it supports are one search apart.
